Issues of cooperation between the scientists of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were discussed.

   Director of the Institute of Soil Science and AgroChemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev visited the Scientific Research Institute of Irrigation and Water Problems of the Ministry of Water Management during his business trip to Uzbekistan. The director of the Institute, professor Abdulvahid Urazgaldiyev, introduced the guest to the scientific staff of the Institute. Alovsat Guliyev held a business meeting with scientific workers in the existing scientific research laboratories, talked to the scientific staff about efficient use of land and water resources, processes occurring in the ecological world, modern problems of soil science, measures against degradation. He spoke about the past relations of the Irrigation and Water Problems Scientific Research Institute with the employees of the Institute of Soil Science and AgroChemistry, of which he is the head, about the scientific research they conducted together, about the scientific debates at the held conferences, and answered questions. Then there was a discussion on the current or expected issues related to climate changes in the territories of both states. Mainly, the situation around the Aral Lake, the fact that the drainage water in Azerbaijan is close to the norm corresponding to the irrigation water demand, and that the water flows directly into the Caspian Sea were mentioned.

   In the discussion, it was suggested that, there is a need to conduct monitoring taking into account the activity of existing sub artesian, artesian wells, springs and springs in both countries.

   During the discussion, Alovsat Guliyev also spoke about the experience of using alternative water sources in Azerbaijan. On the East Zangezur economic district freed from occupation 34 mln. m3, 20 million in Fuzuli in the Karabakh economic region. m3, 68 million in Aghdam. m3 of water was obtained. It was reported that, for this purpose, the assessment and restoration of the very important Kahriz has been started.

   At the end of the meeting, a memorandum on cooperation was signed between the Institute of Soil Science and AgroChemistry of Azerbaijan and the Scientific Research Institute of Irrigation and Water Problems of Uzbekistan.
