The Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan has published a paper titled “Soil and water resources of the Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh economic regions: The scientific-practical conference "Problems and Prospects" continued its work on July 11.

The main goal of the two-day event is to analyze the state of land and water resources in the liberated territories on a scientific basis, highlight existing problems, and discuss prospective opportunities.

The second day of the scientific-practical conference continued with presentations on the causes of soil salinization, the impact of forest ecosystem disruption on soil cover, the preparation of organic fertilizers, and the analysis of saline soils using innovative methods. The presentations were received with interest by the conference participants, and views were exchanged. It was emphasized that, the presented scientific results will play a significant role in increasing the agricultural potential of the region.

At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the scientists who spoke, and letters of appreciation were presented to the members of the working group who actively participated in organizing the conference.

Summing up the conference, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor, Director General of the Institute Alovsat Guliyev spoke about the importance of the conference and said that the assessment of land and water resources in the territories liberated from occupation is of strategic importance and such scientific and practical platforms create conditions for achieving real results.

Speaking at the conference, Professor Mirnaib Mirsalakhov, Head of the Department of Land Reclamation and Hydrotechnical Facilities at ADAU, spoke about the rich scientific traditions of the Institute and said that today, the new generation has great responsibilities in the restoration and assessment work carried out in the liberated territories.

The executive director of the Institute, PhD in biology, associate professor Gulchohra Huseynova noted that, the event was organized at a high level and that this conference showed that, we have strong scientific potential and that this potential should be mobilized for the restoration and effective management of land and water resources.
