On December 5, 2022, The International scientific conference called "Soil science: yesterday, today and tomorrow" was held at Khazar University, jointly organized by the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry and Khazar University. The founder of Khazar University, the chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, professor, academician Hamlet Isaxanli, opened the conference with an introduction and spoke about the important role of soil science in the world today. He congratulated the conference participants on "December 5 World Soil Day".At the plenary session of the conference, the director general of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, corresponding member of ANAS, Alovsat Guliyev, delivered a report on "Yesterday, today, tomorrow of soil science in Azerbaijan". In his report, the scientist talked about the current state of the land, encountered problems and ways to overcome them. In his speech, Alovsat Guliyev gave extensive information about the shortcomings in the effective use of land and water resources in Azerbaijan and ways to eliminate them.
Correspondent member of ANAS - Amin İsmayılov about "Development trend of National land classification and digital land mapping of Azerbaijan: problems and prospects" , Doctor of agricultural sciences -Mustafa Mustafayev about "Modern reclamation situation of irrigated lands in the Kur-Araz plain", PhD in Agricultural Sciences -Konul Ghafarbeyli about "Research and mapping of the ecological situation of Zagatala region" made reports at the conference. Head of the Department of Geography and Environment of Khazar University-Rovshan Abbasov also spoke at the plenary session.
The first day of the International scientific conference "Remote sensing of soils, genesis, mapping and productivity improvement" and It ended with reports of local and foreign scientists in two sections called "Soil degradation, agrochemistry, biology and ecology". Then the conference continued its work on December 6 with reports at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry.
