An international scientific-practical conference was held within the framework of the 29th Conference of States Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29.

   Organized by the Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and the Scientific Research Institute of Viticulture and Winery of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, an international scientific-practical conference was held in a hybrid format on the topic "Modern agriculture in the conditions of global climate change: current problems, development trends, perspectives".

   Director General of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev said that, climate change has a serious impact on land resources, which is important for food security, ecosystem protection and agricultural sustainability. The scientist noted that, issues such as land degradation, pollution and productivity decline are exacerbated by climate change, which disrupts the ecosystem balance. Alovsat Guliyev stressed that sustainable use of Azerbaijan's land and water resources, especially in the field of soil protection and erosion control, should be a priority.

   The work of the conference was conducted in Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages. On-line presentations were also made by foreign and some local speakers from the Republic of Turkey, the Russian Federation and other countries.

   Within the framework of the event, a tree-planting action was held for the sake of the green world, around 100 pyramidal cypress trees were planted by the conference participants.
