The Director General of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev met with the Head of the Azerbaijan office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Vladimir Georgiyev. During the meeting, Professor Alovsat Guliyev spoke about the cooperation with the IOM in the project "Integrated development of agriculture in the areas inhabited by IDPs through the restoration of Kahriz water systems in Azerbaijan"
   He noted that,he had been working as a consultant scientist for more than 10 years in the research, mapping and restoration of canals in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as part of the IOM Baku office. The scientist is the author of a book and a short film in this field.
   At present, the investigation of Kahriz canals in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan is one of the key issues. As a result, there is a need for monitoring and necessary work.He noted the importance and significance of the support of the IOM and other organizations for this purpose.
At the end of the meeting, Alovsat Guliyev presented the English edition of his book "Kahriz canals of Azerbaijan" to Vladimir Giorgiyev. Vladimir Giorgiyev praised the scientist's scientific activity and research in this field.
   It should be noted that the corresponding member of ANAS Alovsat Guliyev has been a member of the UNESCO interstate board on "Ancient hydraulic systems - canals" since 2005.He is currently researching kahriz systems by UNESCO in Azerbaijan and the Central Asian republics (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan).
