A commemorative event was held in connection with the 31st anniversary of the "Khojaly Genocide".

  Today, a commemorative event was held in connection with the 31st anniversary of the February 26 "Khojaly Genocide" at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of  Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the beginning of the event, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played and the dear memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated with a minute of silence. The event was opened by the general director of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, corresponding member of ANAS, prof. Alovsat Guliyev opened and noted with regret that, The Khojaly tragedy is the most inhumane and terrible of the massacres committed by Armenians against the people of Azerbaijan. Legal and political assessment of this terrible genocide was given in 1994 under the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev.  Scientist  said that, the martyrs of Khojaly, who were avenged in the 44-day Second Karabakh War, will always live in our hearts.

   Tarlan Yermarli, chairman of the Institute's Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, made a speech on "The most terrible tragedy of the 20th century".  The young scientist spoke about the inhuman atrocities committed by the Armenians against the peaceful residents of Khojaly. He noted that, 613 people were brutally murdered in Khojaly, and hundreds of residents were captured and taken hostage. Later a researcher of the Institute -Mammadova Roza,  spoke and said that, this bloody tragedy, engraved in our history as the Khojaly genocide, resulted in the destruction of thousands of Azerbaijanis, capture, and the razing of the city.

   Doctor of agricultural sciences -Mustafa Mustafayev, who gave a speech, noted that the Khojaly tragedy is a continuation of the policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide carried out by Armenian nationalists and their patrons against the people of Azerbaijan for up to 200 years. The atrocities committed by the Armenian aggressors will never be erased from memory.

   Speaking at the event, Ramiz Hasanzadeh, head of the Institute's "Supply and Service" department, said that the Khojaly tragedy, in which hundreds of innocent residents were brutally murdered, was one of the bloodiest crimes in the world. Touching on the issue of the international legal punishment of the perpetrators of the genocide, he spoke about the importance of young people in this matter. At the end of the event, a video dedicated to the Khojaly genocide was shown.
