An event was held on the occasion of World Soil Day at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

    An event was held on December 5 - World Soil Day at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was opened by the director general of the Institute, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Alovsat Guliyev.At the event, Amin Ismayilov - corresponding member of ANAS, delivered a wide-ranging speech on the topic "Land and water are the source of our life".The scientist said in his speech that this day was recommended by the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) in 2002, and in 2014, the UN General Assembly officially celebrated December 5 as World Soil Day. The scientist noted that, World Soil Day aims to inform people about the exceptional importance of soil.

   Later, corresponding member of ANAS,  professor Alovsat Guliyev - made a speech entitled " The Climate change in the world, water problems in Azerbaijan".In his report, the scientist gave information about the shortcomings in the use of land and water resources in Azerbaijan and ways to eliminate them. Professor Alovsat Guliyev also spoke about the importance of World Soil Day and noted that, it is being held in order to draw attention to the importance of soil and to promote the sustainable management of soil and water resources.

   At the end of the event, the documentary film "Drinking water" made with the advice of Alovsat Guliyev was shown.
