At the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the report on the scientific and organizational activities of the institution for 2024 was heard. At the meeting, the Director General of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev provided information about the research conducted by the institute and areas of activity. He noted that, the İnstitute's activities are carried out within the framework of decrees and orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers, and state programs.
The report stated that, in 2024, in accordance with the scientific direction of "Research, restoration, protection, efficient use of biodiversity, soil and water resources with modern approaches, creation of electronic databases and maps", scientific research work was carried out at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry on 2 problems, 18 topics, and 82 works during the reporting period.
Professor Alovsat Guliyev also provided information about the İnstitute's personnel training, international relations, and scientific and educational integration. He noted that,currently, the İnstitute has 24 doctoral and dissertation students studying in the specialties of "Soil Science","Agrochemistry", "Ecology" and "Land Reclamation, Reclamation and Land Protection". The institute has also accepted bachelor's and master's students from various universities (Baku State University, Sumgait State University and Western Caspian University) for internships.
Speaking about the international relations of the Institute, the professor noted that, 28 employees of the Institute are members of the Russian Society of Soil Scientists. Some scientists participate in the UNESCO Board of Directors on Soils and the Global Soil Partnership. The Institute has also established long-term cooperative relations with scientific institutions in countries such as Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Belarus and Indonesia.
