Heads of the laboratory of Agro-ecology and monitoring of soils in previous years, PROFESSOR SHAHALI GULMALI OGLU HASENOV - In 1958, he defended his candidate's dissertation on "Soils of Agstafachay basin and their use in agriculture", and in 1972, he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Natural-genetic characteristics and evaluation of the soils of South-West Azerbaijan" in the Faculty of Geography received the scientific degree of doctor. He is the author of 110 scientific articles on soil geography, soil Agro-ecology and assessment.
PROFESSOR NADIR KARRAR OGLU MIKAYILOV - in 1972, he defended his thesis on "Improvement of heavy-clay saline soils common in the Karabagh plain" and received the degree of candidate of agricultural sciences in 2003, and in 2003 "Ecological basis of formation conditions and melioration of saline-salty soils common in the Kur-Araz plain" ” and received the degree of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences after defending his dissertation.
GARIB SHAMIL OGLU MAMMADOV - full member of ANAS, doctor of biological sciences, professor. In 1979, he defended his candidate's thesis on "Agro-ecological characterization and assessment of pasture lands of the western part of the Mil Plain", and in 1991, he defended his doctoral thesis on "Ecological assessment of agricultural and forest lands of Azerbaijan" at Dnepropetrovsk State University received the first doctor of ecological sciences degree.
More than 700 scientific works of Academician G.S. Mammadov have been published in this field of science, including the National Atlas of Azerbaijan, Ecological Atlas, Tourism Atlas, Geographical Atlas, and various land maps.

KONUL ALISAFA GIZI GAFARBAYLI - Ph.D. in biology, associate professor, has been appointed the head of the laboratory of Agro ecology and monitoring of soils since December 2021.
In 2011, K.A. Gafarbayli defended his thesis on "Ecological evaluation of the lands of Ilisu State Nature Reserve and Gakh State Nature Reserve" in the fields of "Soil Science" and "Ecology" and received the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biological Sciences.
In 2016, he received the scientific title of docent in the specialty "Ecology". He is the author of more than 70 scientific works, 1 monograph and 1 book.
The monograph he authored was published in English by Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany. "The ecological evaluation of the soils in the Ilisu Nature Reserve"
Since 2017, he has been working on a doctoral thesis on "Ecological assessment of lands of Shaki-Zagatala cadastral region of Azerbaijan".
He is a local adviser on Environment for the United Nations Development Programme, entrepreneurship and employment development projects for Economic Businessmen.
He is engaged in teaching at the Faculty of ST MKS, Department of Reclamation and Water Management Construction at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction. He was the scientific supervisor of 6 masters. He knows Russian and English.
The main directions of the laboratory.
- Creation of an electronic map platform covering the entire territory of the Republic, supporting the different scale spectrum required by electronic agriculture and other state information systems based on the use of spatial data, as well as the interactive update mode;
- Conducting soil, agrochemical, as well as multidisciplinary research using the terrain plastic method on that platform;
- Development of a detailed methodology for drawing up digital land and soil ecological assessment maps using methods such as 3D visualization;
- Study of agro-ecological factors affecting soil fertility and productivity of agricultural plants in the territory of the Republic
- Carrying out agro-ecological zoning of territories;
- Characterization of the composition of the land fund of the republic and the situation under separate agricultural areas - ugodias (crops, perennial crops, hayfields, summer and winter pastures);
- Determination of price criteria and correction coefficients in accordance with the biological requirements of plants, taking into account the local characteristics of the Republic;
- Conducting credit assessment of republican lands, agricultural lands and forest fund lands for land cadastre purposes, drawing up credit rating scales both on a republican scale and by regions
- Conducting and zoning agricultural production and forest production grouping of agricultural lands and forest fund lands
-Determining credit scores and comparative value coefficients of land plots for natural-economic and administrative regions, landscape zones of the Republic;
- Compilation of land-quality maps and cartograms for individual farms, administrative regions and republics, etc.
The staffing capacity of the laboratory is 10 people. 1 person - professor. 5 people have a doctorate in biology, 1 person has a doctorate in agricultural science.
