1. The laboratory of soil physics was founded in 1954. The firs chief of the laboratory was doc.of sci.on agr.sci.,prof. Agayev Bala Mammad. From 1969 to 1998 doc.agr.sci. prof. Mammadov Rafi Hasan, in 1998-2016 doc.sci.on agr.sci.,prof. Garayzada Akif Pasha, led to this laboratory. Since 2017 Ph.d. on.agr.sci., docent Jafarov Ali Musa has been leading to the laboratory. Since a day of the laboratory foundation these scientists had a great role. From them d.agr.sci. Y.J.Hasanov, ph.d.agr.sci. A.A.Ismayilov; ph.d.agr.sci. N.M.Mammadov, ph.d.agr.sci. D.E.Yusubov, ph.d.agr.sci. J.G.Nuriyev, ph.d.agr.sci. E.N.Nabiyev, ph.d.agr.sci.Y.N.Mukhtarov, ph.d.agr.sci. N.M.Gasimova, ph.d.agr.sci. K.G.Agayeva, doc.agr.sci. J.G.Gulaliyev and others studied the country’s soils agrophysical characters including water-physical properties, granulometric structure, water-heat regimes, heat and optic characters in soils.

2. The employees of the laboratory: doc.agr.sci., prof. Garayzada A.R., ph.d.agr.sci.,docent Jafarov A.M., ph.d.agr.sci., docent Kocharli S.A., ph.d.agr.sci. Mammadova E.M., ph.d.agr.sci. Manafova A.M. investigated agrophysical properties of soils, water-heat balance in soil; soil processes dynamics; soil optic characters humid and heat influx models by considering the soil structure; energy accumulation in their structure for plants, remote study of soil including heat capacity, coefficients of heat and temperature conductivity and etc. parameters. The dependences between physical parameters and soil-plant-atmosphere system characters of soil in time and space. The change legislations of the energy potential in the environment where the plants are located have been determined, especially radiation and heat balances. Heat and humidity conductivity, electric, optic characters of soils, energy accumulating ability of the cultural and natural plants have been fixed. The map-schemes which reflect different properties of soils have been composed.

3. The laboratory achievements were reflected in the printed works. “Torpaqların istilik-fiziki xassələri” (Garayzada A.P., Gulalıyev Ch.G.) Bakı, “Adiloğlu”, 2006, 205 s.; “Bakı-Tbilisi-Ceyhan neft kəmərinin Azərbaycan Respublikası ərazisindən keçən hissəsində təhlükə doğura biləcək təbii amillər və onlardan qorumaq üçün nəzərdə tutulan tədbirlər”(M.P.Babayev, Q.Z.Azizov, M.Q.Mustafayev, A.M.Jafarov) Bakı “Elm”, 2009, 110 s.; “Natural factors that can create danger for that part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipe-line passing through the Azerbaijan Republic and intending measures for preservation» (Babayev M.P., Aziziv G.Z., Mustafayev M.G., Jafarov A.M.) Baku “Elm”, 2012, 112 s.; Praktiki agrobio ekologiya“(Salmanov M.A., İsmayilov N.M., Jafarov A.M.), Bakı “Elm”,

2013, 281 s.; Ümumi və tətbiqi ekoloqiyanın əsasları” (Salmanov M.A., Mammadov A.A., Ozaran A.H., Jafarov A.M.), Bakı, 2016, 370 s.; “Böyük Qafqazın müasir torpaq örtüyü”( Babayev M.P., Jafarov A.M., Jafarova Ch.M., Huseynova S.M., Qasımov X.M.), Bakı, 2017, 345 s.

4. At present, 14 employees are working in the soil physics laboratory. Of these, 1 professor, 2 docent, 2 ph.d.agr.sci. , 5 scientific employee, 1 engineer, 3 laborants
