The commemorative event was held in connection with the 33rd anniversary of the "January 20 tragedy" under the organization of the Trade Union Committee and the Council of Young Scientists and Experts of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry. At the beginning of the event, the employees of the Institute commemorated the victims of the January 20 tragedy, our martyrs who died for the freedom of our country, with a minute of silence. Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the Institute, doctor of agricultural sciences -Mammad Mammadov, opened the event. Mammad Mammadov noted in his speech that, “January 20” is the day when our nation was able to demonstrate its determination, heroism, and the ability to unite around a single idea like a fist. The sons and daughters of the Motherland, who died on the night of January 20, wrote a bright page in the history of Azerbaijan, paved the way for the national freedom and independence of the people. Academician Maharram Babayev and  - Doctor of agricultural sciences - Amina Akhundova also shared their memories of that day and prayed for mercy to our martyrs.

   Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Experts of the Institute, Tarlan Yelmarli, who made a speech on the topic "Bloody and glorious page of our history" at the event, gave detailed information about the January 20 tragedy and said that Bloody January is an eternal pain in our memory. We young people always cherish the memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of our nation. Dayanat Bakhishov, a member of the Young Scientist and Specialist Council of the Institute, delivered a speech entitled "Tragedy of January 20" at the event.

   At the end of the event, a video dedicated to the January 20 tragedy was shown. Members of the Council of Young Scientists and Experts of the Institute visited the Alley of Martyrs.
