The people of Azerbaijan are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. During these jubilee days, the intellectuals who met our Great Leader and listened to his valuable recommendations also share their memories.

   The Director of the Institute of Soil Science and Agro-chemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, corresponding member of ANAS - Alovsat Guliyev had the opportunity to meet and talk with our Great Leader.

   In his statement to TNS, the scientist said that, the day he met Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in 2002 was one of the happiest days of his life and he always remembers that, meeting with gratitude.

   The meeting was held in the "Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan".The Heads of various state bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Autonomous Republic participated in the meeting. I attended that meeting completely by chance. Many issues related to Nakhchivan were discussed there. Near the end of the meeting, our Great Leader asked who had an additional word. I raised my hand and indicated that, I wanted to speak. Heydar Aliyev gave me word for speaking.

   I wanted to stand up from where I was sitting and ask our Great Leader for the restoration of the Kahriz canals of the Nakhchivan but he invited me to the platform. We had an interesting dialogue with our Great Leader regarding the water problems of Nakhchivan and the Kahriz system – “Alovsat Guliyev” said.

   According to the scientist, Heydar Aliyev carefully listened to his speech about the water problems of Nakhchivan and reacted to the issues he raised with unique wisdom, gave specific tasks to the heads of relevant bodies to solve those problems.

   Alovsat Guliyev noted that, after the opinions expressed by our Great Leader about the kahriz canals, which are among our ancient monuments, this water system of ours was brought up again, and important works were done in the direction of the restoration of such monuments.

   I thought that, I was the best connoisseur of this field in the country as a researcher. At that time, I realized that, our Great Leader has deeper knowledge about the Kahriz system. Our Great leader analyzed, the contribution of these ancient monuments to the solution of the water problem in our country and their importance as historical monuments with great wisdom and foresight.

   Thus, thanks to the instructions and recommendations given by our Great Leader in that meeting, it was possible to preserve these ancient monuments in the later period. “Following the direction given by our Great Leader, I further enlarged my research work in this field". - Alovsat Guliyev added.

   The scientist said that, his speech was not planned in that meeting. It was unexpected for all participants of the meeting that, our Great Leader invited him to the platform.
