An event was held at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of “World Decent Work Day” - on October 7.
Opening the event, the Chairman of the Institute's Trade Union Committee, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Mammad Mammadov, spoke about the importance of World Decent Work Day, the responsibilities of colleagues, working conditions, and the principles of equality among workers.
In his speech, the Director General of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Alovsat Guliyev highlighted the continuous improvement of the legislative framework in our country to ensure decent work and the efficient working environment created for the Institute's employees.
The executive director of the Institute, PhD in Political Science, associate professor Gulchohra Huseynova said that, every year October 7 is celebrated as "World Decent Work Day" and this initiative was first announced by the International Trade Union Confederation in 2008. Currently, work is underway on a draft of a new Country Program on Decent Work for 2024-2028 with the participation of the International Labor Organization and Azerbaijani Trade Unions. Providing every citizen with decent housing and a job is one of the main priorities of the country's socio-economic development strategy.
It should be noted that, October 7 - World Decent Work Day - is of particular importance as an important component of the social policy implemented in our country.
